Madrid

After living in Madrid for two and a half years we thought we’d share our favourite spots for you. Madrid has a way of making every moment feel special. And if there’s one thing this city does better than almost anywhere else, it’s food.

Casa Macareno

This is, without question, our favourite restaurant in Madrid. Casa Macareno is a traditional Spanish taberna in the Malasaña the very neighbourhood where we live - a place that offers an authentic glimpse of everyday Madrid life.

Inside you’ll find tiled walls, wooden tables, and an atmosphere that feels timeless. Generations of madrileños have gathered here over cañas and small plates, keeping its spirit alive. And in our opinion, the patatas bravas are the best in Spain, but this is a busy spot, so please book in advance here .

Aarde

If you’re in the mood to dress up, Aarde is located in Madrid’s Salamanca neighbourhood, the city’s fashion hot spot. It boasts a fantastic street-side terraza overlooking the Puerta de Alcalá -perfect for outdoor dining. It’s the kind of place to toast a special occasion, linger over wine, and soak in the city at its most sophisticated.

La Duquesita

La Duquesita is a historic pastelería that specialises in the Palmera — a puff-pastry classic shaped like a heart, caramelised until golden and flaky, often dipped in chocolate. It’s one of Madrid’s most beloved snacks: simple, crunchy, and irresistible with a coffee.
