We recommend guests travel via Madrid on or before Friday the 4th of September
If you choose to extend your trip, please see Matthew & Carla’s Spain travel Guide
TRAVEL
-
After much research, we believe the simplest route is via Madrid - the city we’ve called home for the past two years. Direct flights are available from London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, and Birmingham.
-
Salamanca Airport is small and offers only limited routes. One seasonal option is to fly via Palma de Mallorca -perfect if you’d like a stopover on the island before continuing directly to Salamanca, instead of travelling through Madrid. Flights are available through Volotea airlines
Thursday 3rd September
Palma > Salamanca 12:35-14:05
Monday 7th September

We’ve taken the train from central Madrid to Salamanca many times - it’s quick, comfortable, and only takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. Tickets start from around €20 and can be booked easily through Trainline
Trains do sell out, so we recommend booking in advance.
-
Direct buses run regularly from Madrid Airport to central Salamanca, making this a simple and affordable option. The bus terminal is located at Terminal 4, and is a 2 hour 45 minute direct journey.
Tickets are available to buy on Trainline

Hiring a car is perfect if you’d like to explore more of Spain before or after the wedding. The drive from Madrid to Salamanca takes just over 2 hours on a straightforward toll road. If you have time, we recommend stopping in Segovia along the way - it’s a beautiful historic city and well worth a visit
